“We can’t be brave in this big world without at least one small space to work through our fears and falls.”
Brené Brown
Hello, I’m Viviane, an accredited psychotherapist offering psychotherapy and coaching both in central London and internationally online.
Therapy offers a safe, supportive space within which to explore what might feel difficult or painful, whether in the past or in the present. Entering into therapy means you have someone who can walk alongside you on your unique journey of self-discovery, in a respectful, empathic and non-judgmental way.
My role is to listen deeply to what you share and support you in understanding yourself more fully.
Psychotherapy is likely to lead to a growing compassion for ourselves, to valuing ourselves as we are, to understanding how our past experiences have shaped who we are as adults, and to finding more peace with our lives now.
I am passionate about supporting people to be truly and fully themselves. The values I base my work on are trust, relationship, commitment, honesty, humour, realness, challenge, and care.
A little bit about Me
The pleasures and meanings in life always come through connection. A connection with other people or animals, through being in nature or urban settings. This sense of connection and my lifelong interest in human existence have been my passion and motivation in my work as a psychotherapist.
With Eastern European and West African heritage, I grew up as a mixed-heritage and third-culture individual in Germany. As a child, I lived in France and Germany and in my late twenties, I moved to the United Kingdom, experiencing first-hand the process of being a foreigner and creating a new relationship with the idea of home.
My personal experience of migration, motherhood, and family history has made me open and empathic to a wide range of ways of seeing and perceiving the world. It has allowed me to work with hundreds of diverse people in various settings such as schools, universities, community organisations and the private sector. Through these experiences, I developed a holistic psycho-social attitude towards human distress.
“To be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else — means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight.”
E.E. Cummings
My professional experience
My training as a coach and then counsellor and psychotherapist started with being involved in the career coaching community for migrants and expats. I went on to train as a person-centred counsellor, which provided me with the invaluable grounding of deep respect, compassion and a relational and ethical stance towards clients. After five years, I found that this approach had its limitations. The emphasis was individualistic and seemed unprepared to address the harder aspects of life such as trauma and the socio-political dimensions clients experience. An Advanced Diploma in Integrative – Relational Psychotherapy offered me the rigour and perspective I was seeking.
I am committed to lifelong learning as a therapist, in service of current and future clients. Currently, I am studying Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy with the IPT in London.
